Malayalam Films Flying High in the PIFF
PIFF is going on in Pune with its full glory, and the festival will run through 16th January 2013. This year, the festival was full of grandeur and splendor, and the organizers succeeded in fulfilling the expectations of film spectators all over the world. The inaugural ceremony was mind blowing in all aspects, and the venue was decorated with the presence of unquestionable personalities from the Global Film World.
Malayalam Film Industry also had too much to rejoice, as four Malayalam movies gets screened in the Indian Cinema Category. One among them is Celluloid which is directed by ace filmmaker Kamal. The movie which stars Pritviraj in the lead role depicts the life of J C Daniel, the father of Malayalam Cinema.
Another Malayalam Movie in the Indian Cinema category is ‘Shutter’ directed by Joy Mathew. The movie showcases the life of a man who traps inside a shutter with a prostitute. The film beautifully depicts human emotions in its raw manner.
Kunjananthe Kada by Salim Ahmed and Artist directed by Shyamaprasad is also getting screened, and these movies are expected to take the industry to a new level of global presence. Kunjananthe Kada has Mammootty in the lead role, and it portrays the story of a shop keeper who fights against developments which may harm his shop and small town. Fahad Fazil plays the lead role in Artist, and this movie show cases the life of a blind person who have impeccable artistic skills.
In the inaugural ceremony, master director Adoor Gopalakrishnan was honored, and this was another achievement for Malayalam Cinema Industry.
