A Touch of Sin wins Black Pearl Award 2013

A Touch of SinA Touch of Sin’ the Chinese crime thriller directed by Jia Zhangke won this year’s Black Pearl Award in the Abu Dhabi Film Festival. The prize money for the Black Pearl Award is whooping $ 1, 00,000, and the movie won the recognition for the best narrative film. The film faced tough rounds of competitions from 15 movies from various countries, and this added the glory of the recognition.

My Sweet Pepperland’ from Huneer Saleem walked away with a special jury award and a prize money of $ 50,000. ‘In the Sands of Babylon’ directed by Mohamed Jabarah Al-Daradji won the award for the best film from the Award world, and it bagged a sum of $ 50,000 as the prize money.

The award for best director which carried prize money of $ 50,000 was given to Merzak Allouache for his film ‘The Rooftops’. The New Horizons Black Pearl award and $100,000 went to Italy, U.K. title Still Life, directed by Uberto Pasolini. In the documentary section, These Birds Walk, directed by Omar Mullick, Bassem Tariq won the top honor, and it was awarded a prize of $ 80,000.
