“Focus more on village development”: Forest Minister to corporates

Kollam: Corporates must focus on village development by utilizing their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds opined Kerala Minister for Forests K. Raju.

“Corporates should come forward to improve infrastructure facilities in villages. Every corporate must earmark more share of their CSR funds for village development. The future of the state will depend upon the development of villages,” said K. Raju.

He was inaugurating Aries Trust, a charitable organisation by UAE-based Aries Group, at Poongodu Shiva Temple at Aickkarakonam, Punalur on Saturday. The logo of Aries Trust was unveiled on the occasion. The minister appreciated Aries Group for its Corporate Social Responsibility projects.

Aickkarakonam to be a model village

“We may not be able to change all the existing social conditions, but if we try, we can definitely change the situation in our villages to a great extent. A model village will have more employment opportunities, will take care of parents and the elderly, will encourage reading and give importance to arts and sports. Aickkarakonam will be made into such a village,” announced Sohan Roy, Chairman and CEO of Aries Group.

“It was the public library in my village that helped me grow into what I am both as an individual and a professional. Welfare programmes are honorariums for the region,” he said.

While delivering inaugural address, Punalur Municipality Chairman M. A. Rajagopal said “We will offer full support and cooperation to those who come forward to implement social welfare projects.”

Aries Group is a multinational consortium that has 47 companies in 15 countries across the globe. ‘Aickkarakonathe Bhishaguaranmaar’ is the second CSR movie produced by Aries Group. The cast and crew of the film were introduced on the occasion. The shooting of the movie is progressing in Varkala.

The movie, co-produced by Abhini Sohan and Prabhiraj Nadarajan, under the banner of Aries Telecasting Private Limited, is scripted by K. Shibu Raj. P C Lal wields the camera while Biju Ram is composing the music. Editing is done by Johnson Iringole while Anil Angamaly is the production controller. The film will be shot at Varkala, Punalur and Ottapalam and will be completed in one schedule.

On the occasion, Trivandrum-based Aries Vismayas Max was honoured for being the first studio in India to receive the prestigious Indywood accreditation. Actress Priyanka Nair and Director Boban Samuel along with eminent personalities from various walks of life were present.

As a part of the anniversary celebrations, Aries Group (completed 20 years) and its subsidiary Aries Marine and Engineering Service’s Punalur office (completed three years), a music show by renowned playback singer and music director Jassie Gift and team was held.

As a part of Aries Trust’s inauguration, the group distributed medical kits, notebooks and sports kits to selected individuals and from underprivileged families.
